Faber is a leading independent literary publisher. We publish a diverse range of high-profile authors such as Kazuo Ishiguro, Anna Burns, Sally Rooney, Leïla Slimani, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Orhan Pamuk, Sebastian Barry, Laura Lippman, Lenny Henry, Luke Harding, Melissa Harrison and Amelia Gentleman, and we have a backlist containing the works of T. S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Sylvia Plath and William Golding, among many others. Faber is also a supplier of sales and distribution services to independent publishers and has a market-leading creative writing school.

We are seeking to recruit an Executive Assistant to provide administrative support to members of Faber’s Executive Board.

As Executive Assistant some of your main duties will include: complex diary management, inbox management, and other administrative and personal support duties. The Executive Assistant will support Executive Team members including the Communications Director and the IT, HR and Publishing Services Director. As well as administrative and diary support, there will be specific work in the Communications area, such as drafting and formatting announcements and press releases; some evening work and managing freelancers may also be required in this area. The Executive Assistant will be responsible for diary management for the Managing Director and Executive Chair.

Responsibilities will include: minute taking, drafting responses to emails and letters, book mail-outs, meeting arrangements, creating Powerpoint presentations, booking lunches and travel, expense reports, greeting and providing refreshments for guests of the Executive Team, and any other duties as required that are within the skill and competence of the post holder. This role will report to the Business Manager.

The successful candidate will be extremely organised, proactive and able to juggle competing priorities and multiple schedules. They will have very good interpersonal skills, a positive and calm approach to work, discretion and diplomacy for a confidential working environment and excellent written and spoken communication skills. Ideal candidates will have an interest in reading and publishing. Previous publishing experience is not required for the position.

This is a full-time position.

Salary: £28k – £32k, depending on skills and experience
