Francesca Simon to Give the Gift of Goats

The bestselling author donates to the charity Shivia, in celebration of the publication of her new picture book, The Goat Café.

Francesca Simon has donated £750 to support four families become goat farmers in West Bengal, through the charity Shivia, in celebration of her brand-new picture book, with Leo Broadley, The Goat Café. All of Francesca’s future royalties from this book will also go to the charity.

Shivia empowers the poorest to create livelihoods, boost income and inspire permanent change for the women and families in their programmes. Families in West Bengal are set up with their goat project and supported over the course of three years to build a sustainable and lasting business, that will benefit both themselves and the community.

The Goat Café is published in May by Faber Children’s Books.

Francesca Simon says:

“Shivia is a wonderful charity, working closely with local people to enable them both to earn a sustainable livelihood and to educate their children, especially girls. I am delighted to support them.”
